Class Notes 01-09-2013
- The definition of Mythos is: Stories.
- For this class the definition of Mythology is the precedent behind all actions.
- Origtins are the beginning of all things all things.
- I didn't just originate when I was born it goes back to myth. (Everything goes back to myth)
- Metamorphoses is the transfer of the soul, a change in the physical sate of being.
- Ilo tempore means: in the time.
- Logos means "the woany pard". It also means truth and fact. In the Bible "logos" or "the word" is used to describe God.
- Mythology is the combination of myth (stories) and logos(truth or fact). So all myths are true stories....."true story."
Class Notes 01-11-2013
- There are three sequences of myth; creation, initiation and return and or death.
- Sparagmos tearing apart or mangling; part of initiations and why scars are mythical. .
- Story of Psyche and Cupid.
- If you don't like a myth wait and the story will change.
- Mono Myth: all myths fallow the same basic story the story of the hero. Joseph Campbell's Idea.
- In Myth every thing is alive, rocks and trees.
- Apollo and Daphne: Daphne turns into a tree and Apollo can feel her heart beating when he presses up against her in tree form.
- Nothing dies it just changes metamorphoses
- Graphic story about sex crazed women ripping a musician apart
- There are no such thing as distractions in this class because everything is connected to myth, so nothing is off topic
- An epiphany is the sudden appearance of an idea or a Deity because everything goes back to myth
- Pygmalion the happy story of a man falling in love with a statue that he created.
- The song about the paper doll.
- Books to read some day Bruce Chatin's Song lines.
- Have a dream over the weekend, report dream by Tuesday
- Record dream in note book
- Finish Ovid's Metamorphoses
- Hag a tree
- Memorize a creation myth to tell in class next week
